On December 26, 2004, a tsunami killed over 230,000 people across 14 countries. But on one small island near the epicenter, only 7 out of 78,000 residents died. Why? Because they had a word for it: smong. For generations, their grandparents told them — when the ground shakes and the water pulls back, run to the mountain.
Genesis 6-8 is that story for us. Noah preached for 120 years while the world ate, drank, and assumed tomorrow would look like yesterday. Then the rain started. Everything God said was true. And the only people who survived were the ones who believed it before they could see it.
The flood was real. And another one is coming — not water this time, but fire. Final judgment. And the only ark is Christ. In this message, we’ll walk through five anchors God’s Word gives us when judgment rises and our world sinks:
- Pursue righteousness amidst wickedness (6:9-12)
- Live knowing that judgment is coming (6:13-18)
- Get on board and stay on board with God (7:1-16)
- Trust God through judgment (7:17-8:1)
- Embrace your new life on this side of judgment (8:15-22)
The door is still open. But it won’t stay open forever. This is your boarding call.
