You can be completely saved, fully justified before God, covered by the blood of Jesus—and still slip back into living like the person Christ saved you from.
Most of us don’t plan it. We get careless. We stop guarding our hearts. We stop pursuing holiness like our lives depend on it. And slowly, we start drifting back toward the life that broke us in the first place.
In this message from our “Building the Church” series, Pastor Douglas Humphrey walks through Ephesians 4:17-32 and reveals eight clear marks of a disciple who refuses to go back:
✓ You put away lying and speak truth
✓ You control your anger instead of it controlling you
✓ You stop taking and start contributing
✓ You refuse to use your mouth in an un-Christian way
✓ You value the work of the Holy Spirit in you
✓ You put away emotional explosions and internal resentments
✓ You choose kindness and compassion
✓ You forgive because you’ve been forgiven
If you’re walking in habitual sin right now, you’re not just flirting with your old life—you’re already halfway back to it. The enemy can’t make you lose your salvation, but he will try to get you living like you never had it in the first place.
This message will challenge you to stay close to Jesus, stay surrendered, and stay obedient. Don’t flirt with the life God freed you from. Don’t entertain the patterns of behavior He broke off of you. Stay living the new life Christ purchased for you—and refuse to go back to the life that broke you.
