Every Christian parent carries the same quiet fear: What if my kids don’t follow God?
You pray for them. You try to model it. But between homework, sports, screen time, and the thousand voices competing for their attention, it can feel like an uphill battle.
Here’s the good news: God didn’t leave you without a plan. Scripture gives clear, practical principles for passing faith to the next generation. They’re not complicated. But they are intentional.
1. MAKE FAITH PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE, NOT JUST SUNDAY
Deuteronomy 6:6–7 says, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Faith isn’t a compartment—it’s the air your family breathes. Talk about God at dinner. Pray in the car. Point out His creation on a hike. The goal is that your kids see your faith isn’t a Sunday performance—it’s how you live.
2. LET YOUR KIDS SEE YOUR STRUGGLES, NOT JUST YOUR STRENGTH
Kids can smell fake from a mile away. If they only see a polished version of your faith, they’ll assume it’s not real. Let them see you pray when you’re worried. Let them hear you say “I don’t know, but God does.” Authentic faith is more compelling than perfect faith.
3. GIVE THEM A CHURCH FAMILY, NOT JUST A CHURCH SERVICE
Your kids need more than one hour on Sunday. They need adults who know their name, friends who share their faith, and a community that reinforces what you’re teaching at home. A healthy church amplifies your parenting—it doesn’t replace it.
At Bridge Fellowship, our kids ministry isn’t babysitting. It’s intentional, age-appropriate Bible teaching with safe, trained volunteers who love your children. Parents worship with peace of mind.
4. TEACH THEM TO READ THE BIBLE FOR THEMSELVES
Don’t just tell your kids what the Bible says. Show them how to find it. Start a family Bible reading plan. Ask them questions. Let them ask you hard questions. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Give your kids that lamp early.
5. PRAY FOR THEM—AND LET THEM HEAR YOU DO IT
The most powerful thing you can do for your children is pray. Pray for their salvation, their friendships, their future. And pray out loud with them regularly. When your kids hear you talking to God about them by name, something shifts in their hearts.
