Exploring the Attributes of God: God Who is All-Knowing & Sovereign (pt.2)

Day 1: God’s Unchanging Nature

Scripture Reading: Isaiah 46:9-10 (CSB) “Remember what happened long ago, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and no one is like me. I declare the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done, saying: My plan will take place, and I will do all my will.”

Commentary
God’s unchanging nature, also known as immutability, is foundational to our faith. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This unwavering consistency assures us that His promises and His character remain steadfast. Unlike humans who change based on circumstances, God remains eternally constant.

Commentary
God’s sovereignty means He has ultimate authority and power over all creation. Our plans are subject to His will. This doesn’t mean our efforts are futile, but rather that God’s purposes will ultimately stand. His plans are far greater and more perfect than anything we could envision.

Commentary
In turbulent times, God’s omniscience and sovereignty become our anchor. Just as an anchor secures a ship amidst a storm, our relationship with God stabilizes us in life’s chaos. His complete knowledge and unwavering control mean we can rest in His care regardless of the circumstances we face.

Our past decisions, whether good or bad, are within His sovereign plan to mold us for His purpose.

Commentary
God’s justice is both a warning and a promise. For the Israelites in exile, it meant deliverance through King Cyrus. For us, it serves as a reminder that God will judge according to our response to Him. His justice is an invitation to return to Him and accept His salvation in Jesus Christ.
